The holidays feel a little strange this year. Let’s suffice it to say: 2020 has been tough. Now, as the year rounds to a close, many families will be skipping their usual reunions – or adapting treasured traditions to keep people safe. As we all navigate the weeks in front of us, I imagine many of us would benefit from embracing the Christmas spirit. Towards that end, Maize Manor UMC has created a 2020 Christmas Countdown. It is our own Advent calendar, complete with activities for you to carry out to make sure you remember to celebrate the birth of Christ even in the midst of the things going on around you. In worship, we will study the book of Isaiah to prepare our hearts for the birth of Christ. And, on the Sunday before Christmas, we will have a Christmas Cantata along with a Children’s Christmas Story (because a play would be a bit of a trick). So get out your Santa hat, and join us this Advent for our Countdown to Christmas.
