The Real Meaning of Christmas Traditions

Some years it can be hard to get into the Christmas Spirit. But, even when the joy of Christmas feels crowded out by the stress of the holidays, there are certain rituals that help get people ready to celebrate the birth of Christ. From Advent Calendars to Christmas Trees to Presents, Christmas is a time of traditions. So, this December, we are going to explore the history and ideas that helped shape some of our culture’s beloved holiday rituals, while we search for The Real Meaning of Christmas Traditions.

Bring in a photo of one of your favorite Christmas traditions (have index cards to write about it) and post it on the bulletin board.
Santa’s Workshop
● Pictures with Santa, crafts, cookie decorating, a toy giveaway, and reindeer games!
Christmas Market
● We will give food, clothes, hats, and gloves to the community. Elf costumes are
encouraged.
Christmas Sunday: Sunday, December 22

Christmas Eve
● On Saturday, December 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary, we will have our annual
service with lessons and carols.
