You might have noticed we are building a sustainable urban farm on the church’s grounds. To
some people, it might seem strange to plant crops in our front yard; but, I am convinced it is a
spiritual use of sacred space. Urban Farming has the capacity to teach us to be fully present, to
do humble service, and to connect with the cosmos. Incidentally, so do most activities…as long
as we undertake them the right way. This summer we are going to consider how urban farming –
along with other practices – can connect us to both God and our neighbors through Zen and the
Art of Urban Farming (among other things).
