Lent is a church season that lasts 40 days (not counting Sundays), and is a time for people to
spiritually prepare themselves to celebrate Easter. For this Lent, I asked the people of the
church what spiritual discipline you would like to practice together…and you chose Simplicity.
So, this March, we will search the Scriptures to ask: What Is Simplicity? What Do You Worry
About? What Will You Let Go? Together, these questions will lead us on the path to Simplicity –
and draw us closer in our walk with Christ. I invite you to join us in this journey, while we get
ourselves ready to celebrate new life this Easter.

Spiritual Challenge
As part of practicing the spiritual discipline of Simplicity, we encourage everyone in the church –
of all ages – to identify one possession that is important to you…then give it away.
Lenten Devotional
● Would you be willing to share a story about a time when you gave away something that
was important to you?
Ryan began his pastoral ministry at Maize Manor United Methodist Church in 2014 after serving at the Church of the Messiah in Westerville, Ohio. He lives in Columbus with his wife, Mariellyn, and five children. Visit the Staff Page to learn more about Pastor Ryan.
